The cottonmouth, also know as water moccasin, is an opportunistic feeder. Its diet includes mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, snakes, small turtles and small alligators. These snake do not hesitate to prey on venomous like rattlesnakes or copperheads. Cannibalism is a frequent occurrence between this species as well as the feeding on carrion. But in general its diet consists of fish and frogs. Fish are captured by cornering them in shallow water, usually against the bank or under logs. They take advantage when bodies of water begin to dry up in the summer or early fall and gorge themselves on the resulting high concentrations of fish and tadpoles.
Frogs and small birds are seized and held until movement stopped. Larger prey will be approached in a more cautious manner; a rapid strike will be executed after which the snake withdraws. Young individuals have yellowish or greenish tail tips and engage in caudal luring. The tail tip is wriggled to lure prey, such as frogs and lizards, within striking distance. These video was filmed by Heiko Kiera aka Ojatro in Florida 2012.

There are some folks in the country who believe you should be handling snakes if you are religious. One such person is John David Brock. He was recently bitten by a poisonous snake, refused medical attention, and died four hours later. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

“A 60-year-old worshipper at a Kentucky Christian church died on Sunday after being bitten by a rattlesnake that he was handling as part of a religious rite.

According to WKYT, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office reported that John David Brock was bitten during Sunday morning services at the Mossy Simpson Pentecostal Church. Brock refused medical treatment and died four hours later at his brother’s home in the town of Jenson.”*

THE FORMER pastor of a snake-handling church has vowed to carry on handling serpents – despite almost dying after being bitten by a rattlesnake. Cody Coots is the ex-leader of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus’ Name church in Middlesboro, Kentucky, one of America’s only remaining snake-handling churches. The dangerous ritual had already cost the Pentecostal church its previous pastor, Cody’s father Jamie Coots, 42, after he was bitten by a rattlesnake and killed in 2014. The disturbing footage of Cody being bitten by a timber rattlesnake – the same snake that killed his his father – features in My Life Inside: The Snake Church, a two-part film from Barcroft TV. Cody was airlifted to hospital where he was eventually stabilised despite major swelling to his eyes, face and airways. Cody survived and recovered and, despite his ordeal, still attends the church and says he has no plans to give up handling snakes.

A NEW documentary has captured the startling moment a controversial American pastor is bitten by a deadly snake during a service. Cody Coots is the pastor at the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus’ Name church in Middlesboro, Kentucky – one of America’s only remaining snake-handling churches. The dangerous ritual had already cost the Pentecostal church its previous pastor, Cody’s father Jamie Coots, 42, after he was bitten by a rattlesnake and killed in 2014. And the shocking footage shows Cody Coots – his shirt splattered in blood – collapsing and being helped from his altar as the snake’s potentially lethal poison begins to take hold. The church’s story is told in My Life Inside: The Snake Church, the first film in a new series from Barcroft TV which gains unprecedented access to people who’ve chosen to live outside the norms of modern mainstream society.

700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina

Views:7824175|Rating:3.54|View Time:1:44Minutes|Likes:4783|Dislikes:1965
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.

This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn’t take long to find out that the STORY behind it… was fake, just another hoax.

While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle

Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it’s skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.

This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it’s misery and buried it.

It’s sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook
