I love teaching people how to paint!

Need help making new videos. Help support my channel on Patreon.

I created The Idaho Painter as an alternative to big box DIY video shows that have actors who only act like they can paint but really can barely act. My mission is to teach everyone across the globe how to paint from the non-experienced to the long time professional. No experience is necessary. My channel is for the home improvement person, DIY painter, handyman professional, home and garden enthusiast, and even the professional painter.

My new line of painters every day clothing is out now. PAINT LIFE paint wear is a cool line of clothing designed by my sister Melanie. Our clothing line is every day painters wear that is a great gift or just cool clothing for yourself. Check it out in my Caffee Press store.

This DIY room divider or privacy screen is made out of 1/2″ EMT conduit, fabric from old curtains and scrap pieces of 2×2. Open-plan apartments are rising in popularity and, while it is great to have the feeling of openness, it is nice to keep a semblance of privacy. In this design, the divider can be as simple or as ornate as you wish it to be. You can add or subtract panels if need be. The height and width can also be changed depending on your space. This project is beginning level for building and for sewing.

DIY: Temporary fix for hole on the roof

Views:143050|Rating:3.82|View Time:7:40Minutes|Likes:527|Dislikes:162
All the tools & products I used for the repair I bought at Home Depot. I cut out the existing shingles in the area around the hole. I then covered the hole with three layers of sheet metal. I glued on the sheet metal with a product called Wet-R-Dri roof cement & it stops roof leaks. I then put down the new shingles over the sheet metal covering the entire section that I cut out. I used the roof cement to glue down the shingles then hammered it down with roofing nails. Sorry I didn’t show how I nailed down the shingles, I forgot to put that part on video. I did the repair on March 28, 2015 and it is still holding up strong. It has rained since, even had a storm and there are no leaks. The estimate I got from a licensed roofer was over $2000, that is expensive for me, so I decided to repair it myself. I spent a total of $100 this includes the tools I used, the roof cement, sheet metal, a big package of shingles, a bag of chips and a diet coke. 🙂 Thanks for watching.

Flooded Home Repair: Before Replacing Sheetrock, DIY | DTH Restoration

Views:14806|Rating:4.17|View Time:23:35Minutes|Likes:60|Dislikes:12
If your home was one of the thousands of Houston area houses that flooded during Hurricane Harvey, or you have a home that flooded somewhere else, watch this Flooded Home Repair DIY video for important tips on what you need to know and do before replacing sheetrock.

In the video, Mike Feigin, co-founder and CEO of Design Tech Homes and DTH Restoration & Remodeling (see demonstrates the process for removing and replacing water damaged sheetrock in a home. He shows you what needs to be removed, and how to do it.

“There’s a lot of misinformation about what you need to do in this process,” Mike says.

Through the video, he provides the information homeowners need to know to properly repair their homes after a flood.

If your home has gypsum and you see that it is water repellent, don’t think you can leave it. It is not waterproof. It soaked up flood waters with raw sewage, and must be cut out. In the video, Mike shows you how.

Some people say you can leave boards because they dry. Use a moisture meter, says Mike. Test the moisture level. It may look dry, but still be wet.

After the removal and cleaning process, you will apply a vapor barrier, (DO NOT use plastic), and then insulation before finally replacing the sheetrock.

Without taking the necessary steps demonstrated in the video, your mold problem will likely become a rot problem.

Another important tip: Film your home repairs so you can prove they were done. If you decide to sell your home in the future, you may need that proof.

To learn more about the process for repairing a flooded home, visit the website above. DTH provides helpful articles, home restoration and rebuild services, and more.

How to repair water damaged drywall in one day!!

Views:119719|Rating:4.31|View Time:10:23Minutes|Likes:380|Dislikes:61
On this water damage repair project, the home owners had already removed the drywall. But they did not cut it out square or on a stud.
So, the first thing I had to do was cut the drywall square so it would be an easier and tight fight of the new drywall. Next I added a wood 1″ x 2″ furring strip to be able to secure the wall board since the it was cut just past the original framing of the home.
