My main plan was to find and photograph roe deer. But I did not find them. But I did find a water rail. So my trip turned in to bird photography. The water rail is a really good looking bird. Its usally very shy, but in the winter it expose it self much more. It turned out to be a great day. A bonus was a robin that was i the area and gave me some great pictures of this beautiful bird.

  1. Hi Trond, I recently found your channel and I’m blown away. Your images are superb and give me so much inspiration. I have just started my own nature and wildlife YouTube channel here in the UK and I am learning so much from you . I was recently at the lake on my housing estate where someone had reported a Water Rail to me (didn’t see it of course!) so this video was really interesting to me. Also your previous one with the Goshawk and Rough Legged Buzzard was simply stunning. Thank you so much. Looking forward to the next one.

  2. Really nice. I like that you explain that the deer was your main plan because it gives some insight on what your thought process is when going out to shoot and does not romanticize it.
I also find it interesting that a lot of the birds you have in the UK have their counterparts in the US. For example, it seems water rail is almost exactly the same to Virginia rail here.

  3. I love these photos, they are so amazing. Also, I understand what you mean about vlogging around people, it is awkward at first. Looking forward to your next video!

  4. I am not sure if you already know this Trond but the best way I find deer myself is to follow their trails. Its almost a 100% chance you will find them this way 🙂

  5. Brilliant photo portrayal of the Water Rail Trond, The snow images really worked well with the foreground and background, really making the Water Rail really pop out at you. wonderful images from this vlog mate.

  6. Kjekke film igjen. 🙂 Var der i dag eg (og)…ingen rådyr på meg heller. Sist eg så di va di bak granskogen ved Tufteparken. Glede meg te neste vlog. Mvh Stein

  8. Ahh, the autofocus squeal of some of the first gen AF-S lenses!
My 17-35 does that. I hate it, but also love it somehow…. 😀
